PERUGIA - This past Sunday, May 30th was held in Perugia, the second edition of the Italian Cup. One issue that has had the same format as last year (held in La Spezia ed) and was played entirely in one day.
Four teams that have been submitted to compete for the trophy: the hosts of the Phoenix, the Roma Leones strong recently won the championship, the boys of the Black Eagles of La Spezia (team young but steadily improving), and the Red Hawks Brianza Merate. Turin was also attended by players and by the newly formed team of Bocconi.
In the second semi-final Roma have easily folded the Black Eagles of La Spezia. 7-2 the final result largely completed in the first half of the race, too much of a difference both physically and technique between the two teams even if La Spezia have shown good growth since the last challenge. In the final aired the latest chapter of 'eternal battle between Rome and Perugia. The match was very physical with some contacts, especially in the last minutes of play, the limit ". top scorer of the competition was the Australian "naturalized Perugino Steven Whitford with 6 goals: Phoenix of the bomber was an absolute star in this season, winning the title of top scorer in the league. Behind him we find Galperti (Merate) and Sullivan (Rome) with 4 goals apiece.
This second edition of the Italian Cup has highlighted above all as a year in the growth of the lacrosse in Italy: this type of events where teams can meet and compete throughout Italy are good for growth and expansion in a sport like lacrosse.
